About
All contractors and tradespeople performing work in the City of Manitowoc shall create a MyGov User account and complete a Manitowoc Contractor Registration before submitting any permit application. There is no charge for this registration. The MyGov User name must match the name on the state credential / license where proof of a valid credential / license is required.
Local Registration For State Credentialed / Licensed Contractors
The First and Last Name of the user account must match the Wisconsin state credential / license holder at all times. Upon expiration of any Wisconsin credential or license on file in the Building Inspection department, the Manitowoc Contractor Registration will also expire. To renew the Manitowoc Contractor Registration the applicant shall provide proof of an active Wisconsin credential or license to the department.
A user's email provides access to only the activity associated with that account. The user's email will receive all information related to reviews, corrections, invoices, receipts, permit documents, and inspections. If you wish for more than one individual to receive these messages, you may choose to use a global business email for the user account or set up an internal email routing rule. Administrative Staff, Project Managers, and all other Non-State Credentialed / Licensed persons may also create their own unique and separate MyGov User (Collaborator) Login.

Building Permits | One- or Two-Family Dwellings
Per Wis. Admin. Code § SPS 305.31, no person may obtain a building permit for a one- or two-family dwelling unless the person complies with all of the following: Holds a Dwelling Contractor certification or a Dwelling Contractor Restricted certification; Holds a certification issued by the Department as a Dwelling Contractor Qualifier. Per Wis. Stat. §§ 101.654(1)(b) this does not apply to an owner of a dwelling who resides or will reside in the dwelling and who applies for a building permit to perform work on that dwelling.
